Notice of Race

 

1.0       Rules

 

1.1    The regatta will be governed by the ÔrulesÕ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.

1.2    The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply. 

1.3       The rules of the International 420 class will apply.

1.4       The Organising Authority may require all participating boats to display the event sponsorÕs advertising in accordance with Regulation 20.3. d (1).

2.0       Changes to Racing Rules

 

          The Racing Rules will be changed in accordance with rule 86 as follows:

2.1       For protests where only a Rule of Part 2 is alleged to have been broken an arbitration hearing will be offered prior to any formal hearing.

2.2    Rule 42 will be changed to allow boats to pump, rock and ooch as permitted by rule C.1.2.2 in their Class Rules.

4.0       Eligibility and Entry

 

4.1    The regatta is open to all boats of the International 420 class.

4.2     Advance entries will be accepted until the normal closing date of Friday 19th February 2010, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of $120 and mailing it to Murrays Bay Sailing Club , PO Box 65-036 , Mairangi Bay , Auckland. The following documents must be submitted with the entry; proof of yacht club membership and proof of membership of the 420 Class Association.

4.3    Late entries, accompanied by an additional late entry fee of $40 may be accepted at the Race CommitteeÕs discretion until 1700 hours on Wednesday 24thFebruary 2010.

4.4    Each boat shall submit a valid measurement or rating certificate at registration and in addition measurement checks may be made.

 

 

4.5    To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew memberÕs national authority.

 

 

 

5.0       Schedule of Events

 

5.1    Measurement:

          Wednesday 24th February 2010 from 1200 hours to 1800 hours at the Murrays Bay Sailing Club

5.2    Registration:

          Wednesday 24th February 2010 from 1200 hours to 1800 hours at the Murrays Bay Sailing Club and Thursday 25thth February 2010 from 0800 hours to 0900 hours at the Murrays Bay Sailing Club.

5.3    Briefing:

          Thursday 25thth February 2009 from 0900 hours at the Murrays Bay Sailing Club.

5.4    Racing Schedule:

          The scheduled time of the warning signal for Race 1 is 1055 hours on Thursday25th February 2010, 3 back to back races are scheduled per day. A total of 12 races are scheduled. No warning signal shall be made after 1555 hours on Sunday 28th February

6.0       Sailing Instructions

 

The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

7.0       Racing Area

 

The races will be held on the water off Murrays Bay

8.0       Courses to be Sailed

 

8.1        The courses will be trapezoid.

8.2     The target time of a race shall be 60 minutes.  Failure to reach the target time shall not be grounds for redress.

 

 

 

9.0       Scoring

 

9.1    The low points scoring system of Appendix A will apply.

9.2    5 races will be required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.3     No score will be excluded until 4 races have been completed and a boatÕs two worst scores will be excluded when 10 races have been completed.

9.4     Open and womenÕs boats will race and be scored as one fleet.

10.0   Alternative Penalties

 

Appendix P will apply with the exception that rule P2.3 will not apply.

11.0   Selection

12.0   Prizes

 

The following prizes will be awarded:

á      A trophy for the overall Winning 420 Team

á      A trophy for the first Female 420 Team

 

13.0   Team Support Boats

 

13.1  Team support boats will be allowed.

13.2  Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at registration (clause 5.2     above).

14.0   Launching and Retrieving

All boats will lauch and retrieve from the Mutrrays Bay Sailing Club

15.0   Substitution of Crews

Substitution of crews will not be allowed without prior written approval of the Race Committee, and then only in exceptional circumstances.
